Victorian Trade Card - CHICOREE EXTRA A LA BELLE JARDINIERE - C. BERIOT - Lille, France
Interesting small card which appears to be part of a series on mammals. This one depicts a couple of chamois, along with a fellow in a native Alpine costume of some sort (Swiss, Tyrolean, German, ??) playing a stringed musical instrument.
The back is covered with advertising (in French, of course) for the company's product.
Size: approx. 2-1/2" x 4-1/8"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Not identified
Condition: Good, I'd say. This card is only lightly soiled, with fairly sharp edges and corners. However, it does have a pinhole near the upper left corner, and a larger closed tear near the center of the card, where something was punched partway through. As I say, the tear is closed but is faintly visible just above the shoulder of the central chamois on the front (looks like a faint pencil line) and just in front of the lady's apron on the back. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
