Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Plaza Corned Beef Center, apparently a restaurant located in the Evergreen Plaza Shopping Center at 95th and Western in Chicago, Illinois. The place said it was "Serving the finest Delicacies to the finest people" and claimed to be the "Originators of the LAZY SUSAN". The phone number is given in the old style of "GA 2-5390".
There's no printing on the inside.
Produced by Match Corp. of America, Chicago
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but that old-style phone number probably puts in the 1950s, or perhaps earlier 1960s.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The cover is clean and the striker strip doesn't appear to show any actual use. However, the striker strip area does have some damage from the removal of the staple that originally held the matches. There's also an additional set of staple holes which through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
