Description: Here's a vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from Savarin Restaurants, a chain which had locations on the New York Thruway and in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Newark, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. It was operated by The Union News Company and claims to have been established in 1864.
The inside lists the chain's various locations.
Produced by American Match Co., Zanesville, Ohio
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but I'm fairly certain it dates between the mid-1950s and early 1960s.
Condition: Fair, I'd say. The cover is somewhat soiled and the striker strip shows some use. There appears to be a small tear in the center of the striker strip and a bit of a ding to the bottom edge of the front (top edge of the back). (Please see scans.)
