Very nice matching pair of First Day Covers, each bearing a single copy of the 1944 Centenary of the Telegraph 3¢ commemorative stamp (Sc. #924), each postmarked from a different city on the first day of issue.

Postmarked: 1) MC - Baltimore, Maryland - May 24, 1944
2) MC - Washington, D.C. - May 24, 1944

Cachet: Purple and black IOOR design featuring a man sitting by a telegraph, apparently receiving the first telegraph message: "WHAT HATH GOD WROUGHT".

Condition: Generally clean and fresh, with neatly typed addresses. The cover with the Baltimore cancel has a very small wrinkle at the lower left corner (see scan).
