SERIES: Satire
This is one of 100 cards featuring humorous cartoons and advertising the "Ariosa" brand of coffee that Arbuckles' issued in the late 1880s. All the illustrations were originally published in either Puck, Judge, or Texas Siftings, three of the more popular satirical periodicals of the day. Most typically aimed their derision at blacks, country "rubes", or the Irish. This particular card was based on an 1888 Texas Siftings cartoon drawn by T. Ramsden and features a difference of opinion between a clergyman and his wife regarding an oft-married widow.
The back shows the Arbuckles' factory buildings, dock, railroad cars, and a ship.

LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified
CONDITION: Very good+, I'd say. This card is only lightly soiled with fairly sharp edges and just slightly "bumped" corners. Both sides have some light toning and a portion of the back has a faint pinkish tinge . (Please see scans.)
