Victorian Trade Card - CHICOREE EXTRA A LA BELLE JARDINIERE - C. BERIOT - Lille, France
Interesting historical card which appears to be part of a series. This one depicts L'Alhambra, the fabulous Moorish palace in Grenada (Grenade), Spain. It includes a portrait of a Spanish woman above a cluster of flowers and what appears to be the crest, or coat-of-arms, of Grenada.
The back is covered with advertising (in French, of course) for the company's product.
Size: approx. 2-7/8" x 4-1/4"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: A. Norgeu, Paris
Condition: Good to very good, I'd say. This card is generally only lightly soiled but does have a large pen or pencil marking just above the Alhambra Palace on the front. The edges and corners are slightly worn and there's a small diagonal crease across the upper right corner. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
