Here's a very pretty antique postcard designed to resemble a matted painting featuring a rustic cottage, with an old-fashioned well, a small wooden bridge and what appear to be geese or ducks on a pond. It's entitled "OLD HOMESTEAD" and carries the number "4004", along with "Copyr't W.C.A. Co., '08".
There's nothing on the back that would provide any additional information as to artist or publisher.
The card is postmarked from Postle, Oklahoma, on February 5, 1909, with a receiving postmark from Chesterfield, Missouri, on February 7, 1909. The card is addressed to a Miss Evelyn Mueller in Chesterfield, Mo., from someone named Mary Rigg.
Size: approx. 3-3/8" x 5-1/2"
Date: Postmarked 1909 but with a 1908 copyright date.
Condition: Good, I'd say. It's obviously postally used with a lightly soiled front and a couple of transparent stains on the back. The edges and corners are a bit worn. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
