Victorian Trade Card - TAPIOCA DE L'ETOILE
Colorful French card depicting a few of the leisure activities found in Switzerland ("Suisse"). This design is essentially the same as the one used in the "Sports & Pastimes of All Nations" series issued by the Arbuckle Bros. Coffee Co. in 1893 (reputedly drawn by Frances Brundage, but not signed). It shows St. Bernard dogs rescuing a snow-covered traveler and a couple of hunters chasing an elusive chamois.
The back advertises TAPIOCA DE L'ETOILE, which received a gold medal at the 1889 World's Fair, held in Paris.
Size: 5" x 3"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Not identified.
Condition: Very good, I'd say. This card is lightly soiled, with just slightly worn edges and rounded corners. There's a long crease running from the hunter's left arm down to the bottom edge. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
